utah with the family!!!

Labor day weekend we headed to Utah with my mother and father in law! We all piled into the motorhome for a long road trip! We left on Wednesday night stopping in Vegas, then on Thursday we headed into Zion National Park for a couple of days! We had SUCH a good time! I was SUPER bummed about my stupid toe injury, but still managed to get a little hike in! So much fun! Tyler was 3 months old and did SO good in the motorhome for 6 days too...I was shocked...but he rocked it! Way to go kiddo...I am glad because his momma and dadda like to be on the move and travel! We LOVE being outdoors and Zion is B-E-A-UTIFUL! Here are some pics of our first days in Zion. I love how my in-laws are always up for seeing all the sites like us! So fun!

he looks stoked to start this road trip doesn't he

The in-laws new ride...

Nice outfit mom....I wasn't expecting it to get cold and those were the only pants I had in the diaper bag..

we give baths in sinks..

all that hiking wore the little guy out..

we were melting..so hot that day!

we moved up in the world....now we use buckets... ;)

Now off to the races to see Brandon in Salt Lake City (the main reason for this trip) to meet up with the rest of the family! Yippeee for another 6 hour drive the opposite direction of home...haha!

Tyler's got his credentials..he is ready for the race! Goooo cousin Brandon!
Takin a little snooze before race time...

We stood on top of the motorhome for the best view of Brandon's TWO wins!

beach with friends...

Wow it is taking me a long time to get these blogs up! Yikes! This is back from the end of August when we went down and visited Erynn and family at their beach house they rented for a week. It was Tyler's second time on the beach, he loved it! He loved watching Will play in the sand! So much fun!! So sad summer is over :(

smashball!

happy anniversary to us!

Honeymoon Sept. 06

Today marks our 3 year anniversary! What an incredible day! Tyler is also 4 months old today!! Looking back to our wedding day, I can not believe how much our lives have changed in 3 years (for the better in every way!), how many places we have been in 3 years, how many experiences we have had, and much more. Last year for our 2 year anniversary we went to Cancun! I found out I was pregnant exactly one week before our anniversary....so I got to experience Cancun sans alcohol...interesting but still a blast. haha! I am blessed with one incredible guy. I know I say it often, but I truly feel sooo lucky to have such an incredible man love me so much for who I am. I am a stubborn, independent, strong-willed woman. He puts up with all of my antics ;). Hehe, from always wanting to go somewhere and do something, to never turning down a social activity, to thriving to meet new people every day, joining too many social groups, starting new opportunities/hobbies when I barely have time for the ones I have, he always supports me 100%. We are opposites in many ways, he is a very private guy you will NEVER see on facebook and I love writing my blog and sharing our lives with the world...he has had the same group of 15 friends for 20 years, I continue to make new friends as much as possible, and still treasure the ones I have had forever...he is an anal clean FREAK, and while I love my house to be clean and tidy, I am not as big of a freak as he is....I love to take pictures, he could live without ;)....we are also very similar in a lot of ways too...we both LOVE to travel, we like nice things, we love our son equally to pieces, we both love to be adventurous, we are both very organized as far as finances and house stuff, etc goes, we are both pretty positive people with a great outlook on life, and so much more but I don't want to bore anyone ;)
He even saved the day yesterday when I felt like I was starting to get the flu and was nervous about taking care of Tyler all day....no questions asked, he came right home and took care of him ALL day so I could rest. He even gave me my anniversary present a day early to cheer me up! We are totally cheesy and love to stick to the traditional anniversary gifts. So this year it is 'leather', so this is what he got me....totally right up my alley...I am a sucker for this kind of stuff. He even brought it upstairs to me while I was still in bed with Tyler sitting on top of the box :)
Happy Anniversary my love! I can't wait for the years ahead! Love you to pieces!

a good one...especially for me right now...

So my friend Michele posted this on her blog and it REALLY made me think...again...I am totally one of those germo-a-phobe moms..but to credit myself...I was a germ-a-phobe looooong before I had a child. Nevertheless, I think, since I DO have a boy, I need to relax a little. Last night, Heath, Tyler and I went for a long 2 mile walk on the riverbed...there were bugs everywhere in some spots and I was freaking out, I hate flies and bugs and I kept checking on T to make sure none were getting on him. Heath stopped and said 'Honey, you are REALLY going to have to get over some of this stuff...there will ALWAYS be bugs and bugs won't kill you or Tyler...relax. He is going to be touching much dirtier things pretty soon here.' I also need to stop freaking out when people touch his hands that have not washed their hands...he does put his hands in his mouth ALL THE TIME, but I can't be a freak about it (unless they are strangers...like the cashier at Target the other day...yuck...she touches a lot of dirty crap)...and stop being paranoid when Bailey licks him...immediately after she licks her butt...yuck...anyway...back to this 'thing' Michele posted on her blog...yes things are a little different now days...our kids get 25 shots vs. the 4 or whatever we got as children because there IS a lot more crap in our environment and food these days....but I need to step back...enjoy my company and stop being such a worry wart...so here it is...many of you can relate...I definitely can relate to almost every single thing on this list...enjoy :) Sometimes I really do wish we could go back to the 'olden' days....hmmmpphh

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED BEING BORN PRIOR TO 1980!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered
with bright colored lead-base paints..

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes,
we had baseball caps
not helmets on our heads.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight.. WHY?

Because we were always outside playing...that's why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on..

No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were OKAY.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps
and then ride them down the hill,
only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem

We did not have Play stations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's,
no surround-sound or CD's,
no cell phones,
no personal computers,
no Internet and no chat rooms.

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping pong paddles, or just a bare hand and no one would call child services to report abuse.

We ate worms and mud pies
made from dirt, and
the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team.
Those who didn't had to learn
to deal with disappointment.

Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best
risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas..

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS!

3 month checkup

So...since I am turning this into a book, I must document everything! Tyler went in for his 3 month check up a couple of weeks ago for some shots and another well visit. He was 15 pound 15 ounces...almost 16 pounds and 24.5 inches long...biiig boy....100% breastfed and still a big boy! I love my 'little' man :)

T watching football...he was excited (drooling and all) that UCLA won and USC was losing....shhhhh don't tell daddy :)

9.12.2009

a funny...

So last night...around 4:00 am (I was up giving T his first feeding of the night) I am checking my email on my phone and see one from my friend Katie saying she saw Tyler's birth story in her email from thebump.com. Haha Funny, because I received that same email and didn't even notice! I skimmed right over us! :) For those of you that have ever been married or pregnant....know what this is...it is associated with theknot.com and thenest.com.
Anyway, every week or so they send out an email with little tips, etc...to probably thousands of people...well...we made it in the email this week....here is what the email looked like...and there is a picture of me and Tyler...the 2nd story down... (click on the pic to make it bigger)

When you click on to read the whole story...it takes you here. Thanks Katie for spotting us!

8. Did I mention how much I HATE shots...Ty got 3 more yesterday...I swear he wasn't supposed to get those until he was 4 months old and I REALLY thing the doc messed up...I didn't notice until after she had left the room because of course I didn't watch him get shots (too hard for this wuss)...kicking myself now for not saying anything...uugh

It's awesome! I am always a fan of sharing great sites...pass it on!

8.29.2009

feeling a little random today....

So as I catch up on my blog reading...lots of things are running through my head...I need to list them to get them out of my mom brain...usually this goes under a Whatever Wednesday column...but its Saturday...super hot outside...T just fell asleep and I am feeling like writing...

* I cant believe how easily I forget things now that I am a mom, I always thought 'i have mommy brain' was a cop out....

* I can't wait to move into our dream home and decorate the way I want...I am ready for a fresh slate which will include stripe painted walls and crown moulding...

* I can but I can't wait until Tyler grows up

* I am so thankful for the job I have which allows me to me a WAHM (work at home mom)

* I really wish my son would take the bottle for someone other than me...it kind of defeats the purpose when he will only take a bottle from me....hmmmm...

* I see some of my mom friends talking about the first day of kindergarten and just cant picture that in my future...I feel like T is going to be small forever...I can only wish...

* I still think about my friend Erynn's husband everyday and when I am driving alone (which is rare these days, but DID happen today) and I am blasting country music...every song makes me cry just thinking about him) My favorite song of the month used to be 'Alright' By Darius Rucker...but now it has a new meaning...after reading her blog :) I heard it today turned it up real loud and cried...

* I went to the bank today to cash a small check that came to my dad as part of an old work settlement...and I had to present his death certificate...I had never looked at it before...and was doing 'alright' until the guy saw it was from Hawaii and asked...'oh did your dad live in Hawaii?' and I had to...for the first time say...'no, actually him and I were vacationing there when he died' I feel bad for getting teary eyed and making the guy uncomfortable...sorry mr. banker man...I thought I was stronger...

* I am super duper excited about me and my friends new venture...stay tuned...

* Today is T's 3 month old day...whatever you call it ;)

* I think my hand-germ-dirty-aphobia is getting worse...I have this problem where I wipe my hands after EVERY single bite I take, even if I am just going to dive in and take another bite...resulting in 500 napkins used at every meal...and I can't stop washing my hands...I never noticed I did this until H pointed it out to me about 3 years ago...and my dad happened to be there and said 'oh yeah she has been like that her whole life.' WTF? Why didn't I notice that I used 500 napkins at every meal...I can't break it either...

* I am happy I am back to my pre-pregnancy 'weight' but wondering why my 'shape' is not...I need to go to the gym...

* I am currently overly obsessed with this website. I am all about handmade stuff and supporting moms (most of the site sellers are moms/women). From now on I want to only by people special personal things like this. How stinkin cute is that!

* I am in desperate need of a tan...

* I get over 80 hits a day on this blog and wonder why no one comments to let me know they are there...I won't bite...promise...even just say hello...I know you are all out there ;)

* I am so incredibly thankful to have such an amazing husband... I REALLY scored in this department...

* I love watching T look up at his dad and smile really really big....even if sometimes he smiles bigger with him then with me...its ok...it makes me more than happy...

* I love listening to H give T a bath and talk to him...he doesn't know I am standing around the corner listening with tears in my eyes

* I wish my dad was here to see T, it would have brought SO MUCH joy to his life...

* I can't believe we are grown up enough to have a will and a trust...we just did this last week and it was hard talking about 'if we were to pass...what would we want for Tyler' ugh, I can't imagine not watching my little boy grow up...

* I can't wait for little league games

* I want to be a team mom

* I want H to be a coach

* I can't wait to do all of the things on these websites with Tyler...here and here

* I am taking up sewing again and loving every minute of it (as if I needed yet ANOTHER thing to do) but it makes me happy, so I am sticking to it...

* I hate car shopping...and am sad that we recently discovered our Lexus is not a 'family car' well not a 'family car for tall people' ugh! So...its for sale...sad...

* I am beyond excited for Christmas this year...and can't wait to bring 'Santa' back ;-)

* I'm looking for a Halloween Costume for T...H wants him to be this...I think not...maybe I will compromise and let Bailey be this. I would be okay with that...ha

* I REALLY need to work on converting this blog into a book...I am half way done with all of the posts for 2008...here is the website I am using if anyone is interested.

* Ok I really should stop now...I could keep going on and on...but I have to admit...it does feel good to get all of this out of my overcrowded head...I actually got a nap in today...first time in 2 months...maybe that is why I feel like writing today....I think I am going to start posting my Whatever Wednesdays here...so when I DO convert this baby to a book, I can remember what was going on during these crazed days....and I encourage all of you to start this on your blogs too...it can be fun...come on...everyone's doin' it...ha! Ok..we are off to do something fun as a family now that it has cooled down a little! Happy Saturday!
