Every couple of years we get to use the vacation ownership we got suckered into bought on ourhoneymoon back in 2006. We LOVE LOVE LOVE the Westin Ocean Resort Villas though...we always know what to expect and get first class service...about a year and a half ago, we used it and went to Kauai, this time we went back to our home resort in Maui. We literally booked our trip 7 days before we left....for a couple of reasons...1. we were in need of a vacay...just the 3 of us and 2. Tyler turns 2 VERY soon and wanted to get him on his last free flight! hahaha :) 3. Heath still needed to get me a Mother's Day gift.... The only bad thing about booking a last minute vacation is you don't have something to look forward to for very long! Haha we only had 7 days! :) But had an ultimate BLAST!
Tyler gets an A for the plane ride there and back. He is a natural traveler, thank goodness. He was an angel...I love seeing people's faces when we board the plane and sit down right next to them...then at the end of the flight they finally decide to smile and tell us how great he was....mmmhhhmmm....we knew what they were thinking. The trick is lots of movies, snacks, and new toys. We had about 5 new toys for him to open if things started going sour...we only used 1 on the way there because he started to slightly whine and my over paranoid nice husband pulled it out faster than I could blink. It was hilarious. I bent down to get cheerios and looked up and Tyler had a new motorcycle in the package on his lap. Haha.
Luckily he had his own seat the way there and back and since we brought his car seat he felt comfortable. He even fell asleep for a little over an hour there and 2 hours back. Heaven. I read 4 magazines on the flights alone...So we got there on Monday and really didn't want to book any excursions, plans, etc. We just wanted to relax, enjoy the sun and each other. We do travel a ton, but this I think was our first 'family' vacation just us three! We brought my mom with us to Kauai as our 'nanny' haha, and that was SO nice. But this time it was all about us. We had such a great time.
Poor Heath was on anti-biotics for a cough he had and couldn't be in the sun (he broke out into a bad rash after one day in the sun) so mommy got lots of alone time laying out by the pool while the boys napped upstairs during the day :) I did REALLY feel bad for Heath though...what kind of crap is that...you go to Maui and can't go in the sun?!
Picture overload...and just to think I left my camera in the room 3 or 4 of the days! Feel free to skip over them, I just gotta have them for my book! :)
Don't mind my over tired/no makeup look..Tyler too...it was EARLY!
mad down...awesome!
Time to read magazines!
ahhh we made it!
Not a bad view...good night Maui...see you in the morning!
We usually stay in the bigger unit but this time we decided to save some points for another trip this year and stayed in the studio...not too bad, we just put Tyler's crib in the oversized bathroom to sleep until we were ready to go to bed.
Good morning!
Tyler was up every morning around 4:30 (time change and darn kiddos internal clock) so we were walking the street of Lahaina by 5:30-6:00 and ready for the pool as soon as it opened!
Loved to be outside and stare at the pool below :)
Always with a bike in hand...is it pool time yet mommy?
it was worth the wait....
Check out THIS kids pool! How awesome is that...the whole time we were there, Heath and I were trying to figure out how to get one of these in the backyard of our next house...
Right after we sent him down both slides with water shooting in his face...by himself...mean parents...he loved it though...then mommy and dada each took him down them a couple of times on their laps (MUCH better idea)
He loved being captain of the boat!
Even though his lips were purple and he couldn't stop shivering!
His new favorite toy..
day 2
The first thing he says when he wakes up in the morning 'We go Pirate ship pool mommy?'
Time to walk the 'strip' ha
Heaven.
Tons of places for this little guy to run!
Go get him dada!
Heading into town (Lahaina) for the night!
I'm always behind the camera...wanted a self portrait! :) hah
Trying to get Tyler to be in it with me.
The server wasn't a photographer...
I wanted to remember where we ate.
Checkin' out the menu
The birds would fly right up to us and scare him...hahaha
We did a lot of this...
Nothing beats a hawaiian sunset...
We took a picture here on our honeymoon...
Ahh memories... :)
Ok, back to our trip.
Can't go to Hawaii without seeing a rainbow
I couldn't get enough of this view...
Lots of cruise ships cruised by!
Spent lots of time on the patio staring out here with a nice fruity drink :)
We went to the Maui Tropical Plantation and rode the 'train' it was awesome...we had the whole train to ourselves and another family. We had a super private hour tour of the plantation.
Tyler loved running through the plantation!
Watching the tour guide open a coconut, then we got to eat some! Fresh!
Zip liners over our head...next time...
This was taken on accident but totally reflects how the week went...for some reason Tyler went from the hate of anything on his face to now always wanting to sport his shades...
Feeding the ducks was definitely the highlight of the Maui PLanation trip for little T...we must have done this for an hour and the nice family we shared the tour with gave us some food to use until we got our own :) He was CRACKING up every time a duck ate a piece of food he threw! Loved it!
From the Plantation we headed to Wailea and went to the Shops at Wailea for some lunch. We ate at the Tommy Bahama Restaurant at the shops..sooo good.
Then chased Tyler around more...
Heath's college friend Jeff lives in Oahu and wanted to fly over to see us since we were so close! So he joined us for a couple of days and Tyler loved playing with him!
Jeff took us out to eat at the Pulehu Restaraunt at the resort...SUCH good Italian Food...highly recommend! We sat right by the coy fish pond...Tyler loved it and was thoroughly entertained by the fish!
I was trying to show Jeff and Heath how to smile...they clearly don't know how... ^
it worked! haha
back to our room to put Tyler down and have some drinks with Jeff..and we ran out of Ketel...not good..
For Mother's Day breakfast we went to The Plantation House in Kapalua on the Golf Course...Another HIGHLY recommended place to go. BEST food, INCREDIBLE view and GREAT service! We will be coming back here for sure!
My view...not too shabby ;)
Happy Mother's Day to mee!
eggs benedict :)
darn birds are everywhere!
This is a MUST see beach. Great place to hang out all day, bring a lunch, or walk to the Ritz Carlton, watch the golfers from the beach on the bluff...great place!
After our amazing breakfast, Heath surprised me with an hour massage at the
Westin Spa Helani...heavenly.
That night the 3 of us went to Merriman's. This was one of my favorite restaraunts when we visited Kauai so I wanted to check out the Maui one. Didn't disappoint. To start off, instead of crayons, they brought Tyler a Mr. Potato Head. I have never, ever, ever seen the kid so involved in something and so quiet for almost 2 HOURS! He did not make a SINGLE peep. I had to feed him because he wouldn't take the time to stop and eat. Best.idea.ever. (guess what we bought for the plane ride home??) :)
No time for pictures mom...
Break for pictures outside
Live music...
Time to leave our second home...this is where we say it's not good bye it's see you later!! So much fun! The perfect Mother's Day ever!! Next year its going to be hard to top! ;)
