kauai: part two

Day 5 - Happy Birthday to me and Happy Thanksgiving! Heath surprised me with a stop at the AT&T store in Kauai the day before and we went in and got me a new iPhone...I had the original one and wanted an upgrade...well...this is where the sad story about the pics begins...so I started taking pics with my phone (a lot...like over 100) and when I got home and synced my new phone to my computer they all got deleted...all.of.them. sad :( Sometimes I ONLY took my phone because it was easier...this makes me sad :( but anyway...as H says...its all up here [pointing to his head] yeah yeah, some of us don't have the best memory anymore...thanks to bebe :) It did remind me that sometimse I need to put the camera down...sit back and enjoy the moment...so now I am...its an obsession...i am trying to get over.

Tyler rolled over and over and over for the first time on my birthday in the room...awesome. :)

It POURED rain [flash flood warnings and all] for the first part of the day...then it cleared up and we went to the pool...the perfect bday with my favorite people...

That night we went to the Mediterranean Gourmet Restaraunt for Thanksgiving dinner...they had 3 choices 1. Traditional 2. Hawaiian 3. Vegetarian Thanksgiving....when in Rome...we all got the Hawaiian and oh wow...sorry mom....but it definitely gave you a run for your money :) It was incredible...

The next day we went ziplining in Princeville, right next to where we stayed....such a fun time...I didn't want to stop. Most of the pics are on the other camera...so I only have these two for now, but we took tons of fun videos too...loved it...would definitely do it again..

Jeff flew in for Thanksgiving! We had a great short visit! Here is Jeff and 'mint chip' :)

Our resort has awesome bbq's down by the water, so we packed it all up one night and headed down there...

We left our resort on Sunday and stayed down south in Kapaa Sunday night since we weren't leaving until Monday night.

Back in Poipu

We HAD to watch the UCLA vs. USC game...it doesn't matter what the score was ;)

Checked into our new hotel for the night...headed straight to the pool

Our last day...tear...we drove around the island since our plane wasn't leaving until 10:00pm...
Wailua Falls

Rum tasting...

So from there we headed to Duke's because the lady at the Rum place recommended it. It was also right next to the Marriott, so we went to check both out...well we ended up parking across the street, walking the ENTIRE property at the Marriott...then I wanted to see the pool, so we seriously walked for like 45 minutes (didn't realize how big this hotel was) and never found the pool or the lobby...lame...so we walked ALL the way back to our car, and drove to valet at Dukes....what an adventure.

Our last dinner in Kauai =(

From there we headed to the airport, around 7:30...only to show up to this..

In case you can't read that... :) It says....flight delayed until 2:55 AM...yeah...that would be about 7 hours from then....really????? Apparently the plane broke and they had to wait for a replacement...
At this point we had already decided to check our bags because we had no idea what we were going to do...we were one of the first ones to check in because we were so early (thank goodness) well....things get a little tough with a 6 month old who is ready for bed...we decided to call the nearest hotel...hop in a taxi and sleep for a couple of hours...
We got into the taxi headed to some Garden hotel...who knows...then talking to the taxi driver we learned that there probably would be no taxis back around 2:00am...awesome...now what?

We called the Marriott....that we were JUST at...because we knew they had an airport shuttle...sweet...they had rooms...headed there...checked in...

On our way up to our room we ran into this couple we had met on our flight on the way TO Kauai...how random is that...they had a 5 month old little girl. We told them our nightmare situation, they asked what room we were in and 10 minutes later he showed up with 4 Corona's Power bars, waters, diapers and wipes...there really are some incredible people in this world! Thank you Mike! They were from New York...could you imagine doing THAT flight with a 5 month old! Wow! :) We love them forever....thank you!

So anyway...we camped out and slept until 1:30...mind you we had NO luggage...so we bought toothbrushes and little things...took showers at 1:30 and headed BACK to the airport...that hotel was worth every penny when we walk into the gate and see about 250 haggered people giving us the look of death...eeek :) We would not have done that if it weren't for Tyler...we would have sucked it up...but I must say it was pretty nice to be showered and refreshed :)

Our sleeping arrangement for the next 4 hours...

Tyler's sleeping arangements for the next 4 hours....his 'crib' :)

We got home around noon the next day...it was a truly amazing trip, even with the huge delay...We were thankful they found the problem with the plane BEFORE we got on it...it all worked out in the end and Kauai will be missed. Aloha and Mahalo :)

Hi! My name is Farra & I came across your blog from Erynn's blog - You have a beautiful family! God Bless. My husband & I have been thinking about buying a timeshare, and from your pics of Kauai it seems like you have one as well (with a good plan/company) would you mind sharing the company's name with me?I have always been skeptical of timeshares but the more I research the more I find out u just need good company to go through. I would appreciate any info you have on yours (the place you stayed it looks awesome!) if you don't want to post it on here please email me at theroskos{at}gmail.com Happy HOlidays!
